The Ikea Effect occurs with a variety of self-build products: Legos, origami, furniture or cake mixes. On top of us liking these products more, we get a feeling of control because we could change the environment for our benefit (Mochon et al., 2012; Norton et al, 2012). It is unclear whether pride plays a role here though. Two studies showed contrary results (Mochon et al., 2012; Sarstedt et al., 2016). The reason for that is probably that the scientists used different methods to test it.
